About Me

My name is Emma, I grew up in Manchester, in the north of England and for the past several years have called Dubai home alongside my husband. We love to travel and experience destinations through the eyes of a tourist gaining an appreciation for local life. My aim when visiting new destinations is to get a sense for the culture and uncover hidden gems, besides the obvious spots. Whilst I love visiting iconic sites and historic landmarks, my favourite travel memories usually involve seeing the place through the eyes of a local, times spent not rushing around and soaking up the place and what makes it unique. I travel frequently with my husband when I have the time off work so there is a lot of time spent pre travel researching what might interest us (usually filtering through guides of best things to do and searching for alternative or off the tourist path restaurants, cafes, places to see). This usually saves time once away and allows for spontaneity, whilst having a range of options mapped out to avoid ending up at average over priced tourist traps. In these guides I aim to share my own personal experiences and places I would recommend visiting if you are seeking alternative recommendations which offer a different perspective.

“Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.”
